Cheese Consumption Rising Fast in Germany
Cheese consumption continued rising fast in Germany in 2011 and reached an annual per capita level of 23 kg. Although Germany remained the 4th largest cheese consumer in Europe, consumption levels increased an extra 200g on 2010 levels and an extra 3 kg on 2000 levels. This rapid increase is due to the growth in cheese use in the cheeseburger and pizza fastfood industry nationwide.
